Claw & Bezel Setting Workshop with Peter Keep
Prerequisite: Intro to Silversmithing or equivalent experience
DAY 1: CLAW SETTING (STONE SETTING FOUNDATION SKILLS)
This stage covers important principles of stone setting where you will learn all about how to prepare the seating for the setting to accommodate various size and shaped stones. Once you have practiced the technique and have a clear understanding of how to shape the inner claws, you will then be able to use these principles with all other types of setting. Advanced students will also learn claw setting shaped stones (if time allows).
DAY 2: BEZEL SETTING
During day two you learn how to bezel set stones. It is important to have claw setting skills before enrolling in this course as you will need to understand the seating cut principles. Advanced students will also learn how bright cut the inner bezel as well as set shaped stones (if time allows).
DAY 3: SHARED CLAW SETTING
During day three you will learn how to create a split claw row of settings on a band. This method of setting makes attractive wedding bands or solitaire shoulders.
