Join guest instructor Cheryl Jacobs for an engaging and informative two-day workshop where you'll dive into the art of wax carving and casting!
Over the course of two 6-hour sessions, you’ll work with hard wax to create your own custom ring or pendant, which will then be cast in silver. You’ll learn how to:
- Size your ring accurately.
- Saw and carve hard wax.
- Define intricate design details using carving tools.
- Achieve a mirror finish on your wax piece, ready for casting.
If you prefer, you can design a pendant or earrings instead of a ring and even add a stone! For those without prior silversmithing experience, the instructor will handle building the bezel and soldering it to your piece.
Additional topics covered include shrinkage during casting, spruing, and preparation techniques. Then, experience the magic of casting firsthand, followed by filing, polishing, and finishing your piece—ready to wear home!
No prior experience is required, making this the perfect opportunity to explore the art of traditional silversmithing in a supportive and creative environment.
